What is ‘The Accessibility Project’?

First, let me say that I’m not a scholar.  I have no theology or literature degrees.  I’m just an interested and seeking Christian.  I became frustrated at reading through the great classics of Christian literature.  I thought that they might be more readable, more ‘accessible’, if they were written in a contemporary style.  They might also reach a wider audience.  So here I am trying my hand at bringing classics into the 21st century.

My approach is to start with prayer, that the Holy Spirit may work through me.  Then I read the books, chapter by chapter.  I read each chapter over and over until I can paraphrase it, as if I were relating it to a friend in conversation.  I’m sure I will miss some points and much of the author’s original subtlety, but I hope that enough of the essential ideas remain to make this project worthwhile.
